This was my first high-power rocket. Built in July 2016 from a 3″ LOC Precision Iris, I also purchased a Dr. Rocket 38/240 casing for the Level 1 attempt on an Aerotech H148R.

I attempted the launch on August 14, 2016 in Leonard, OK with Tulsa Rocketry. Although confident in its construction, I was unbelievably nervous for the launch, more ready to get it over with than anything else.

The launch went great, but high winds brought the rocket down out past the range into an area of trees, and after hours of searching it was never found. Not a great way to start the hobby of high-power rocketry, losing almost $300 in parts. On the drive home, empty handed, I thought I wouldn’t try again because it was so expensive. That feeling lasted about 1 day before I was itching to give it another go with a new kit.
