My name is Lucas Utley, and I recently completed my graduate studies at Oklahoma State University in May 2020, having studied Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Originally from Little Rock, AR I moved to Oklahoma for the undergraduate Aerospace Engineering program, and I loved it so much that I extended my time in Stillwater to pursue a Master’s.

In 2016, I founded the OSU AIAA Rocketry Team. The idea actually came from a classmate of mine, and I put in the work to make it a reality. I’d only flown a couple model rockets up to this point, but over the course of the year, we made it out to the 2017 Spaceport America Cup. We had as many as 48 members active, won the Argonia Cup 3 years in a row, attended multiple Spaceport America Cups, and flew payloads for Honeywell and the National Security Campus in Kansas City, MO.

Before starting this website in August 2019, I had kept a blog where I posted about rocketry. I originally made that blog in 2012 when I spent a year as a Rotary foreign exchange student in Austria. I’ve since transitioned new blog posts to this site.

I now work for Textron Aviation in Wichita, KS as a manufacturing engineer supporting our composites plant. I’d still love to work in commercial space some day, especially rocket propulsion test engineering.

High-power rocketry is my passion, and I built this website to share my projects and inspirations in the hopes that it may be of interest to hobbyists, college students, and anyone else wishing to see how infectious space and rocketry can be.
